Danny

biography

Danny Grause is a singer-songwriter from cental Iowa who is quickly winning the hearts of country music fans all over Iowa and beyond. The depth and honesty of his songwriting is the product of a life spent “taking the long way around”. Danny spent 6 years travelling the world in the U.S. Navy before retuning home to pursue his life-long dream of a career in music. A decision a lot of people thought was crazy, but to him it made perfect sense. As he explains it, “I didn’t want to be a guy that read a news clipping and wrote a song about it. I wanted to be the guy who really had something to write about because I was there”. This approach has led Danny to write songs with an authenticity that is rare these days. Many of his songs touch on the usual subject of love gone wrong, like the heartbreaking “You’re Supposed To Know I’m Lying”, but he also digs deeper in songs like “8 more days”, which provides an inside look at Danny’s return home from Operation Iraqi Freedom. On the lighter side, Danny earns his reputation as a “funky cowboy” by fusing funk and blues styling with clever lyrics in songs like “Don’t Tell Mama”, the story of a good ol’ boy getting into trouble ‘out in the sticks’. In the past Danny has taken a supporting role lending his talents to other local artists, including “Nashville Star” Finalist “Shawn Mayer”. Now he's looking to take his own music to the next level.

Biography
Coles Whalen knows how to jump start a music career, literally. After independently releasing an EP in 2005, she bought a truck and camper, and never looked back. In the next 12 months, she played over 150 venues across 10 states in the western U.S.

“Her voice has more than enough power to carry a rock anthem, but she prefers to use that power to sustain her gentler, more pensive moments. Her pitch and articulation - vocal and instrumental - are flawless” wrote Malcolm McCollum of Steppin’ Out Magazine. Coles Whalen sold well over 3,000 copies of her first CD right out of the back of that truck.

Parking the camper, Whalen recorded a full-length album, Gee Baby, in February of 2006. But the camper didn’t stay parked for long. In the next year and a half, Coles Whalen played over 600 shows throughout the entire United States and sold more than 8,000 CDs. She has performed both solo, with her new band, and has shared the stage with Paula Cole, The John Butler Trio, Melissa Ferrick, Michelle Malone, Reckless Kelley, Reverend Horton Heat and Tyler Hilton among others. Ricardo Baca, Pop Music Critic for The Denver Post said of Whalen’s live performance “Whalen delivers an absolutely great show, she left a lasting impression on me.”

Whalen released “Nothing is Too Much” in March of 2007 on Iconic Records (Indie) and is currently working on material for a new release while on tour to support this CD.
